Soft Solid Product Statuses in the Order (ss_item_status)

The ss_item_status extension for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor enables store owners to assign individual statuses to each product within an order. This feature is particularly useful for businesses that manage orders with complex product inventories, offering greater flexibility in tracking the status of each item separately. Additionally, the extension supports warehouse tracking, allowing users to track from which warehouse each product unit was taken.

Key Features:

  1. Assign Individual Statuses to Products:
    • This extension allows you to assign separate statuses to each product in an order, providing more detailed tracking and management of your products during the order fulfillment process.
  2. Warehouse Tracking (Optional Add-On):
    • If the Warehouses [Beta] add-on is installed and configured, you can track from which warehouse each product unit was taken. This feature is available for CS-Cart Ultimate, CS-Cart Ultimate B2B, and Multi-Vendor Ultimate users.
  3. Status Configuration:
    • You can create custom statuses for products in orders, allowing you to differentiate between various stages of fulfillment for individual products. These statuses can be tailored for your specific workflow.
  4. Product Statuses Visibility:
    • Product statuses are visible in both the Admin panel and the customer-facing frontend, making it easier to monitor and communicate the status of each item in an order.
  5. E-mail Notifications:
    • Product statuses can also be included in email notifications to customers, ensuring they are informed about the status of their order items. You can customize the product table in the email to display relevant status information.

How It Works:

  1. Installation and Configuration:
    • Begin by installing the ss_item_status extension. After installation, navigate to the Orders section in the Admin panel, where you can configure the product statuses.
  2. Setting Up Product Statuses:
    • In the Orders -> Products in Orders -> Items in Orders Statusestab, you can add new statuses for products by clicking the "+" button in the upper right corner. Each status can be customized with the following options:
      • Status Name: The name displayed next to the product in the order.
      • Status Color: The color of the status name as displayed on the frontend.
      • Default Status: The default status assigned to products in new orders. If multiple default statuses exist, the one with the lowest ID will be applied.
      • Position: The position of the status in the dropdown list on the Admin panel.
  3. Managing Statuses During Order Fulfillment:
    • When editing an order, you can change the status of each individual product. Depending on your configuration, you may have one status for the entire product, or separate statuses for each product unit.
  4. Warehouse Integration (Optional Add-On):
    • If you have the Warehouses [Beta] add-on installed, the status configuration can also include information about the warehouse from which each product unit was taken. This feature is especially useful for businesses with multiple warehouse locations.
  5. Customer Notifications:
    • When a product status changes, you can configure email notifications to inform customers about the status of their ordered products. The product table in the email can include a snippet for product statuses, allowing customers to see the progress of each item in their order.

Benefits:

  1. Detailed Product Tracking:
    • The ability to assign individual statuses to each product in an order helps improve order tracking and customer communication. You can track products at different stages, such as "Processing," "Shipped," or "Out of Stock," providing clear insights into the status of each item.
  2. Better Warehouse Management:
    • With warehouse tracking enabled, you can know which warehouse each product is coming from. This is especially helpful for stores with multiple locations, ensuring efficient inventory management and faster order fulfillment.
  3. Improved Customer Communication:
    • By including product statuses in customer notifications, you keep customers informed about the status of their individual products in the order. This transparency helps enhance customer satisfaction and reduces inquiries about order progress.
  4. Customizable Workflow:
    • The flexibility to create custom product statuses allows you to tailor the order fulfillment process to your business's specific needs. Whether you have complex workflows or simpler processes, you can configure statuses to match.

Example Scenario:

  • You run an e-commerce store that sells products from multiple warehouses. One of your customers places an order that includes products from two different warehouses.
  • Using the ss_item_status extension, you can assign a different status to each product, such as "Shipped from Warehouse A" for the first product and "Processing in Warehouse B" for the second product. If the Warehouses [Beta] add-on is installed, this information will also appear alongside the status, helping you track where each product is being fulfilled from.
  • The customer receives an email notification showing the statuses of the individual items in their order, ensuring they know the exact progress of each product.

Conclusion:

The ss_item_status extension is a powerful tool for businesses using CS-Cart or Multi-Vendor that require more detailed tracking of product statuses in orders. Whether you're managing inventory across multiple warehouses or simply need more granular control over order statuses, this extension helps improve workflow, communication, and customer satisfaction.

Extension to CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows assigning statuses separately to each product in order. It is also possible to track from which warehouse each unit of product was taken.

Warning: to use warehouse tracking functionality (available to purchase as separate option), an add-on Warehouses [Beta] must be installed and configured. It is available only in CS-Cart Ultimate, CS-Cart Ultimate B2B and Multi-Vendor Ultimate.
