Soft Solid Set Restrictions of Order Placement (ss_order_limitations)
The ss_order_limitations extension for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows store owners to restrict the ability of customers to complete their orders unless their cart contains a sufficient amount of certain products. This is particularly useful for businesses that want to ensure customers meet specific order requirements, such as purchasing a minimum quantity or value of products from a particular category.
Key Features:
- Restrict Orders Based on Product Quantity or Value:
- You can set limitations on the quantity or total value of products within specific categories that must be present in the customer's cart before they are allowed to place an order.
- Category-Based Restrictions:
- The limitation can be applied to specific product categories. For example, you could require that a customer must purchase a certain number of items from the "Laptops" category before they can complete the order.
- User Group-Based Restrictions:
- The extension allows you to set restrictions based on customer user groups. This enables you to apply different rules for different types of customers (e.g., regular users vs. wholesale customers).
- Upper and Lower Limit Options:
- You can define both upper and lower limits for the products in the cart. This ensures that customers either meet a minimum quantity or value of products in their cart before being allowed to checkout.
- Notifications for Non-Compliance:
- If a customer tries to checkout without meeting the set restrictions, they will be redirected back to their cart, and a notification will inform them of the missing products or value.
How It Works:
- Installation and Configuration:
- After installing the extension, you can access the restrictions management settings under Orders > Manage Order Limits in the Admin panel.
- Creating a New Limitation:
- To create a new order restriction, you need to add a record with the following parameters:
- Limit Name: A descriptive name to identify the restriction.
- Categories: Define the product categories that are subject to the limitation. For example, if you want to restrict orders based on laptops, you would select the "Laptops" category.
- Usergroups: Specify which customer user groups the limitation applies to. This allows you to set different rules for different customer types.
- Upper/Lower Limit: Set the minimum or maximum quantity or value of products that must be in the cart to allow the customer to checkout. For instance, if you require customers to purchase products worth 4000 PLN from the "Laptops" category, you would set this as the lower limit.
- To create a new order restriction, you need to add a record with the following parameters:
- Limitations in Action:
- Once a restriction is set, it will only apply if the customer’s cart includes products from the selected category. For example, if the limit applies to laptops and the customer doesn’t have enough laptops in their cart, they will be prevented from proceeding to checkout and will see a notification.
- If the customer is not purchasing any products from the specified categories, they can complete their order as usual without any restrictions.
- Example:
- If you set a restriction where the customer must purchase at least 4000 PLN worth of laptops to place an order, the system will check their cart. If the total value of laptops in the cart is less than 4000 PLN, the customer will be returned to the cart page and shown a notification asking them to add more laptops to their cart before they can complete the checkout.
Benefits:
- Enforce Minimum Purchase Requirements:
- This extension is ideal for businesses that want to enforce minimum purchase amounts or quantities for specific categories of products. For example, if you sell bulk items or have special promotions that require customers to meet a certain purchase threshold, this extension ensures that customers meet those requirements.
- Customizable Limitations Based on Categories:
- The ability to apply restrictions only to specific categories gives you flexibility. You can set rules for particular product types without affecting the entire store, making it easier to manage specific product lines or promotions.
- Targeted Restrictions for User Groups:
- You can apply restrictions based on customer user groups, making it possible to set different rules for different segments of your customer base. For example, you might want to impose higher purchase requirements for wholesale customers but have looser rules for retail customers.
- Improve Cart Conversion:
- By ensuring that customers meet your desired purchase criteria, this extension can help drive up average order value, which is especially useful for businesses with bulk pricing or minimum purchase rules.
- Better Control Over Order Fulfillment:
- By restricting checkout based on product quantity or value, you can better control order fulfillment, ensuring that customers do not complete orders that do not meet your sales or business requirements.
Conclusion:
The ss_order_limitations extension is a powerful tool for businesses that need to control when customers are allowed to place orders based on the contents of their cart. Whether you're enforcing minimum purchase amounts for specific categories or ensuring that customers meet specific criteria before checking out, this extension helps manage order flow and customer compliance effectively. The ability to set category-based and user group-based limitations, combined with upper and lower limits for product quantities and values, provides great flexibility in managing your store's checkout process.

Each record contains the following parameters:

- Categories, determining range of products that are included in limitation
- Usergroups, allowing to define which customers need to fullfull limitations
- Upper/lower limit - defines limits of products sum that must be in cart in order to place an order.
