The Soft Solid Set Second Product Price (ss_product_add_price) extension for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows store owners to define a second price for products, which is then used to calculate the base price of the product. This extension provides more flexibility in pricing strategies by allowing the use of a different price structure based on markup.
The Soft Solid Set Second Product Price (ss_product_add_price) extension is a powerful tool for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor users looking to automate and optimize their pricing strategy. It simplifies the process of setting prices based on purchase costs and markup percentages, offering flexibility to manage both individual product and category-wide pricing. Whether you're managing a small store or a large inventory, this extension ensures consistent and accurate pricing across your entire catalog.
Extension to CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows setting a second product price, which is then used for base price calculations.
We start from installation of an extension:
After installing add-on three new columns appear on products list: purchase price, markup, and column marking all products with manually set markup.
After saving product, its base price is changed to purchase price, multiplied by markup, ex: 600 PLN (purchase price) + 10% (markup) = 660 PLN.
Markup can be also set on category list level. Markup on product has priority over category.
Add-on configuration contains an option, allowing mass setup of markup for all categories in store.
Key Features and Workflow:
- Installation:
- The extension is installed like any other CS-Cart add-on, and once activated, it adds new features to the product management system, such as additional pricing options.
- New Price Calculation System:
- After the add-on is installed, the product list will display three new columns:
- Purchase Price: The cost price at which you buy the product.
- Markup: The markup percentage applied to the purchase price.
- Manually Set Markup: Marks products where the markup has been manually defined.
- The base price of the product is then automatically calculated by multiplying the purchase price by the markup. For example, if the purchase price is 600 PLN and the markup is 10%, the base price will be 660 PLN (600 + 10% of 600).
- After the add-on is installed, the product list will display three new columns:
- Markup Configuration:
- Markup can be set on a product level or at the category level. However, the markup set on the product level will override the category-level markup, giving you more control over pricing.
- Mass Setup for Categories:
- The add-on includes a bulk configuration option that allows you to apply markup settings to all products within a category or across the store. This is useful for large inventories where you want to apply consistent pricing rules without manually editing each product.
- Dynamic Price Adjustments:
- The extension allows you to adjust prices dynamically based on the combination of the purchase price and markup. This is especially useful for stores that need to calculate the selling price based on supplier costs and desired profit margins.
- Use Cases:
- Cost-based Pricing: If you regularly buy products at specific costs and want to add a set markup for profit calculation, this extension helps automate that process.
- Category-based Markups: If different product categories require different markup percentages, you can set a global markup for categories, which can be overridden by product-specific settings.
- Mass Price Updates: The bulk configuration allows you to update pricing for large numbers of products quickly, ensuring consistent pricing across your store.
Example Scenario:
- Suppose you buy a product for 500 PLN and set a 20% markup.
- The base price would be calculated as:
500 PLN (purchase price) + 20% markup = 600 PLN (base price).
- The base price would be calculated as:
- If you apply a category-wide markup of 15%, but then set a 10% markup on a specific product, the product’s price will reflect the 10% markup, overriding the category markup.
Benefits:
- Automatic Pricing: The extension automatically calculates the base price based on the purchase price and markup, saving time on manual price calculations.
- Markup Flexibility: The ability to set markup percentages for both individual products and categories offers flexibility and control over pricing.
- Efficient Price Management: The mass markup setup option allows for efficient price management across large product catalogs or store-wide changes.
- Customizable Pricing: You can easily adjust pricing rules based on your business needs, such as varying markup percentages for different product categories.
