The Soft Solid Split Promotion Costs - ss_mp_prom_div extension for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows administrators to manage how promotion costs are split between vendors and the marketplace administrator. This flexibility ensures a fair distribution of promotion expenses based on the selected configuration, whether globally or on a per-promotion basis.

Key Features and Workflow:

  1. Installation and Setup:
    • Start by installing the add-on within your CS-Cart or Multi-Vendor platform.
    • Once installed, navigate to the add-on configuration settings to configure how promotion costs are split.
  2. Configuring Split of Promotion Costs:
    • You can choose one of two options for how promotion costs will be split:
      1. Global Split: Choose whether the promotion costs are to be split globally between the marketplace administrator, the vendor, or both. This will apply the same logic to all promotions.
      2. Promotion-Specific Split: Set the split for each promotion individually. In this case, each promotion will have its own configuration for how costs are split. A select box will appear in each promotion's configuration to allow this option.
    Example of the configuration screen:
    Split Configuration
  3. Calculating Promotion Costs:
    • The extension works by adjusting the commission that the marketplace administrator receives, based on the promotion costs.
    • For example, if an order of $100 has a 10% discount, and the marketplace administrator takes a 20% commission on all orders, the promotion's discount will reduce the commission received by the administrator, depending on how the costs are split.
    • The different options available for splitting the promotion costs are:
      • Admin Pays: The administrator bears the full cost of the promotion.
      • Vendor Pays: The vendor takes on the full cost of the promotion.
      • Proportional Split: The costs are divided proportionally between the marketplace administrator and the vendor.
Example of cost calculation for different split options:
    Commission Calculation
  4. Impact on Accounting:
    • The commission changes, resulting from the promotion costs split, will also be reflected in the Accounting tab of the marketplace. This ensures that administrators and vendors can easily track the changes to their earnings after promotions are applied.
Example of accounting tab reflecting the split:
    Accounting Changes

Benefits:

  • Flexible Promotion Cost Management: The ability to choose how promotion costs are split globally or per promotion offers great flexibility for administrators and vendors, allowing them to manage costs effectively.
  • Transparent Commission Calculation: Vendors and administrators can see how promotions impact their commissions and earnings, promoting fairness and transparency.
  • Customization for Different Scenarios: The option to split costs proportionally or assign them to specific parties ensures that the system can adapt to various business models and promotional strategies.
  • Easy Integration with Accounting: The integration of commission changes directly into the Accounting tab ensures that all adjustments are tracked and visible in the marketplace's financial records.

Use Cases:

  • Marketplace-Wide Promotions: This extension is particularly useful when running marketplace-wide promotions that affect multiple vendors. The administrator can decide whether they or the vendors should bear the cost of the promotion, or whether it should be shared.
  • Vendor-Specific Promotions: For promotions that are exclusive to certain vendors, the cost of the promotion can be assigned entirely to the vendor, ensuring that the marketplace administrator's revenue remains unaffected.
  • Proportional Splits: In situations where both the vendor and the marketplace administrator should contribute to the promotion cost, the proportional split option ensures a fair distribution based on the order amount.

Conclusion:

The Soft Solid Split Promotion Costs - ss_mp_prom_div extension enhances CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor by providing flexible options for splitting promotion costs. Whether the costs are split globally or on a per-promotion basis, this add-on ensures that both vendors and marketplace administrators can manage promotion expenses fairly and transparently. This is especially useful for marketplaces running both global and vendor-specific promotions, as it allows for clear and customizable cost-sharing arrangements.

Extension to CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows changing logic of splitting promotion costs between vendors and administrators of Marketplace.
We start from installing an add-on:

In add-on configuration we can choose, if promotion costs split will be set globally, or separately for each promotion. If first option is chosen, we have to also select who will take the promotion costs - administrator, vendor, or both proportionally.

If second option was selected (setting the split separately for each promotion), a special selectbox will appear in each promotion configuration, with same options as in add-on configuration.

After configuring add-on, discounts from promotions will affect commissions received by administrators. Below table shows calculations for the following example:
- order costs 100 USD and has discount 10%
- Marketplace administrator takes 20% commission off all placed orders
Depending on selected options (promotion costs paid by Admin/vendor/proportionally), commission received by administrator is changed.

The commission changes are also reflected in store's Accounting tab.
