Soft Solid Statuses - Blocking Tabs and Parts of Page Editing - ss_permission_tabs
This add-on for CS-Cart and Multi-Vendor allows the Admin to limit the access of vendors (in Multi-Vendor) and storefront administrators (in Ultimate) to certain parts of the Admin panel. This may be useful when you want to restrict access to some features or want to simplify the management interface by hiding some unused tabs.
Steps for Use:
Installation: At the first step, please install this add-on into your CS-Cart or Multi-Vendor store.
Managing Access to Tabs After the installation, through the Admin's panel, navigate to Website -> Manage Access to Tabs to configure which all tabs need to be blocked or kept hidden.
Adding Blocking Rules
To add a new blocking rule, click the + button in the upper right corner.
By default all the tabs and sections are accessible, adding a rule and setting it to "Active" will block the access to the selected parts of the panel.
Configuring the Rule: When creating a rule, the following options have to be defined:
Name: A label for the rule (for informational purposes).
Part of the Service: Select which part of the store the rule will apply to. This may be "Products", "Orders", etc.
Tab: Required. Select any product tab you want to block. Example: "General", "Features".
Tab Owner: To block tabs created by external add-ons.
Part Block Page: This defines which fields to block in the tab selected. If a rule blocks an entire tab, this field is not needed.
Administrators: Select which administrators the rule applies to. If no administrators are selected, the rule will apply to all administrators.
Access Status: Choose whether to grant access or deny access to the tab.
Examples of Tab Blocking:
Quantity Discounts tab and Product code field blocking: Vendors won't be able to see these parts anymore, but admins will.
Block created tabs from other add-ons: In the case of a custom tab of the add-on, you may name the Tab Owner to restrict the vendors.
Automation of the rule-set creation for each vendor administrator: The add-on allows you to auto-create rule sets for each vendor administrator.
Example Scenarios:
All tabs blocked: The administration interface is completely locked. Non-required fields within the "General" tab blocked-the only ones still editable are the required fields.
Selection of Tab Blocking: Some tabs like SEO, Add-ons, or Features are selected to block, while others are left to be visible. This extension gives you granular control over which sections of the Admin panel the vendors or an administrator can access, so they will only be able to view the tabs required.
Addon to CS-Cart oand Multi-Vendor allows blocking vendors (in Multi-Vendor version) and storefronts administrators (in Ultimate version) access to certain parts of panel. This way, you can block for example access to product features, or simplify management by hiding tabs that are not used.
We start from installing an extension:
Managing access to tabs is available in section Website->Manage access to tabs:
To add new blocking rule, click + in upper right corner. Without rules, all tabs and sections are available. Adding a rule and setting it to "Active" blocks chosen part of the panel.
When adding rule, we set its name and area where is applies. You can choose tab from pre-defined list, block certain fields or block tabs created by external add-ons. Available fields are:
- Name: identifies rule, has informational purpose.
- Part of the service: to which part of the store rule applies. Depending on what is set in this field, list of fields in "Part block page" changes:
- Tab: choose product tab, which should be blocked.
- Tab owner: Allows blocking tabs created by external add-ons.
- Part block page: options available on this field depend on field "Part of the service". For "Products", it contains list of fields in product tab "General" which we can lock. If rule blocks entire tab (through Tab field), this field is ignored.
- Administrators: to which administrator rule applies. If not selected, applies for everyone.
- Access status: if rule should give access to tab, or disallow it.
Below you can see example what happens if we'll block tab "Quantity discounts" and field "Product code". After creating rules administrator sees everything:
But vendor has no access to "Quantity discounts" tab and field "Product code" in tab General:
In other example, we block access to add-on "Engrave for product", which has special tab visible on previous screen. We type its name into field "Tab owner", because it does not exist on pre-defined list:
Now vendor has no access to this tab:
Below other examples of add-on operation.
All tabs blocked:
All tabs and non-required fields in tab "General" blocked:
All tabs except SEO, add-ons and features blocked:
Add-on allows also auto-creating sets of rules for each vendor administrator.
